I want to make some small jewelry boxes out of cedar. How could I finish them so that the cedar smell will still come through?

No finish inside. If this is unacceptable, then think about incorporating some unfinished element just for the odor.

I make hope chests etc, out of cedar or use aromatic cedar for a lining. If the box itself is to be cedar consider not finishing the interior, then if the aroma deminnishes, a quick sanding of the raw cedar exposes new wood which will smell just like new. Almost any finish will interfere with the cedar smell.
