This computer dummie has a problem!
If I want to “save” a KNOTS post as a favorite, I right click the msg # and “add to favorites”. This generates a web link, which means I have to access the web each and every time I look at these favorites.
How do I send the post to a file in my computer?
Thanks to all in advance!!
Pete

quite easy and there are numerous methouds. I'll mention one of those. All you need is to open a file application like word or wordpad or some type of application that will allow you to type text. Go to the line in the browser at the top that has the http:// path and highlight the string and rt click and copy. I like word. Open a new document and rt click paste. In word it will create a hyperlink that you can just click on. An alternative would be to just add it to your favorites in your browser and create a folder called knots favorites or somehting and just put them there for you. Like I said there are tons of ways to skin this cat. (ok I mentioned two ways)
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
bones,
I tried, and this "hyperlink" doesn't seem to be a hyperlink, just a printed address. Even if it is a hyperlink, won't I have to access the web to access the favorite?
I have successfully done the "favorites in the browser", but again it creates a web link.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
Pete
By the way, I agree with your view on gov't!

Pete, for one post and not the whole thread: I would copy it to the clip board, and then paste it to my word processing software, clean up the line breaks etc., and then save it as a document. Then I would make a link to that document on the desktop.
Thanks, I will try it. Pete
I use a Word document to "store" all tips and tricks I find on the Internet. Over the years I've accumulated 16.8 megs of data and pictures in a folder, subdivided in 35 subfolders by subjects, tools, etc, for a total of 595 files.
How? Using Internet Explorer, on a particular web page, I select the text I want (only the text) with a Clic & Drag, then I select Copy with a right clic (or Edit in upper tool bar), then I Paste it on my Word document. Same thing with pictures, except that I don't have to select it, just right clic (or...) on the image.
Good luck.
Firefox (an alternative to Internet Explorer), has plug-ins that offer a clipping service where you only save the elements of a web page that you like. Firefox is free at http://www.mozilla.com.
I loaded it initially, because I.E. was disabled by a virus. It's small, I downloaded it and saved it to a memory stick and took it to the sick computer.

It seems to work!
Thanks.

Now that you know how Pete, you better get organized because it's so easy to add pages and pages of these references. And it's so great to have them on hand!

Serge,
Me getting organized is probably too much to ask! But I will try.
Thanks again!
