I am building a lathe base to mount a Jet mini lathe for my 9 year old to learn pen turning. How high should the spindle centerline be from the floor?
I’m not looking for a number, but a relative location (waist height, or the distance from the floor to a person’s forearm when it is parallel with the floor, etc).

I guess I'll start... I like the Spindle center-line to be a bit (2 - 3") above elbow height.

I've only done one lathe setup, but a couple of books I read also recommended that the spindle should end up at elbow height or slightly above.Good Luck
