I am in the final steps of finishing a G&G inspired bed. I would like to spray the topcoat with a gravity feed HVLP gun. I have sprayed simpler flat items, but I’m not sure how to approach spraying the slats in the headboard and footboard. See attached picture for example.
My concern is how to get into all the nooks and crannies.

Foam brushes or Q-tips perhaps?
If the bed is not yet assembled I would finish the pieces and then do your glue-up. If your top coat can not be hand-padded or rubbed-on then you could spray the flat surfaces and hand finish the edges with either a narrow foam pad or fine quality bristle brush. This will still produce overlap that will have to be dealt with but ....

I presume the bed disassembles. Just rotate the headobard/footboard on end ( this will probably mean 6 steps per coat), and spray in between, Adjust your fan pattern and nozzle width to minimize overspray, do the inside edges first, then the outside edges last.
I AM NO EXPERT.. However I had to spray a lot of slats on a project once..
What I used was a Air-Brush on the slats.. You can control the spray really well and then the regular spray gun for the final coats...
Filling the little bottle can be a REAL pain thought...
From the picture you should have no trouble at all spraying it in parts. The headboard and footboard need to be done lying flat of course. Set the gun for a light amount of material. Spray at an angle to get all the "inside" edges first, then go over the flat surfaces. When you turn the piece over, do the edges again - this way they get double coatings of a lighter quantity, and no drips. It also helps a lot to have a turntable to rotate the piece you are working on systematically.
