How do I size a starting capacitor
I have an old Homecraft table saw that someone gave me. The motor isn’t working because the starter cap needs replacement. It is the original motor 3/4 HP 1 phase 115/220. What capacitor do I get for this and where do I source it from?
Thanks,
jim

There should be a number on the cap that tells you how many mfd's. Take that # and the voltage to any electrical shop and they should be able to fix you up.
Unfortunately, There is no writing on the existing cap, so I can't size it that way.
A good motor shop should still be able to fix you up.

The physical size will give the electric parts store guy an educated guess as to the capacitor's microfarads (MFDs) A higher rating that will still fit the housing won't do any harm. Steinmetz.
