How do I make a hole for a router tab…
*
I bought Jessem’s router lift system this weekend. Of course I need a router table for it. I can remember seeing in a magazine somewhere the technique for making a template to cut the hole w/rabbet in the table top to accept the router lift plate. I can’t remember where I saw it and was wondering if anyone can explain this process to me or point me towards some literature about it. Different sized collets were used if I remember correctly.

Highland Hardware, Atlanta, offers (or used to) plans for building a router table and they explain how to make the cut out in the table top to receive your machine.

*Rockler sells a template.
*I just traced around the plate then came in 3/8" from the line for the hole. I cut it out with a sabre saw then used a 3/8 rabbit bit with a bearing and cut the rabbit the same depth as the plate thickness. This was a lot less work than making up a bunch jigs.S
*Jeffrey;Go to the web site "woodshopdemos.com" and click on "to the new main menu" link. Under "Superstation" you will find a completely detailed description of the process you are seeking, and there are good quality pictures as well. Good luck.
*Dan,THANK YOU very much! That's exactly what I've been lookingfor! Jeffrey
