Please advise. Which jointer would you buy (if in the market for a jointer) the Oliver 4240 10″ helical head for about 3k with shipping or the Grizzly 0480 10″ jointer with helical head for about 2500 with shipping.
Thanks in advance.

For the money, you could get the G609x 12" with spiral head. I got the G609 12" with 4 HSS, and its fantastic. I plan on upgrading to the spiral head next (I have to save some dough).
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
For $3k I'd look for a used Nothfield.
Get the Grizzly.
The Grizzly has a better track record. Oliver is trying to ride on the coat tails of the old Oliver. Basically one of the former employees bought the name and is having his designs produced overseas.
Not everyone should buy used. Lots of pitfalls of you don't know and could cost more than new if not careful. I repair and rebuild machines. My clients have enough trouble keeping new stuff going.
Go with the Griz - I have that exact same model (G0480) and I love it. The 12" (G0609x) was not available at the time... if it where, I would have gone with it. Either way, don't get the oliver - it is not the same company it once was and the current owners are pricing their stuff based on an old reputation.
Thanks to all
Will have to think about the 12" but sure look good for now. Again thanks to all.
