I am new to the forum so I hope this not a redundant question…
I am planning to build an outdoor kitchen and an outdoor table and chair set which I would like to last a lifetime. I was told about a plastic sheet material called “StarBoard” which was highly recommended. It is used in the marine industry for boat hatches, chairs, tables etc. I am also told it cuts and drills like wood, using standard ww blades, router bits, etc., but lasts longer in outdoor weather as it is UV stabilized.
Anyone have experience working with Starboard? How does it weather? Best source to purchase? Any and all advice is appreciated.

I haven't used it, but have seen it discussed over at Breaktime. You might wanna post this Q over there as well.

I Googled the stuff and it is expensive!! Looks pretty neat though. Next time I hit the Marine shop I will see if they carry it so I can take a close up look.
I live in the middle of the boating industry in South Florida and I use it all the time. You have heard right, think about it, if it is used on multi-million dollar boats and can stand up to the elements and the pounding salty seas it should work around our home. It is quite expensive but I always have some in my shop. I can buy it from our marine discount places and boat manufacturers which helps on the cost. Use it if you can get it, Joe
Found some StarBoard at West Marine in small 2' x 3' sheets. It was high priced so I looked around. Found I could buy 1/2" and 3/4" thick, 4' x 8' sheets, in tan and dark green colors, at Quality Plywood in Clearwater, Fl - a plywood distributor. Stilll quite a bit more expensive than ext. masonite or ext. Plywood, but as it lasts basically forever, as I'm told, I think it is well worth the price. I made a small table for my outdoor patio, It was very easy to work...cuts as easy as a wood panel - nice finish cut on my table saw and router.
Next - a set of four chairs, then a storage box for the pool accessories.
