I got an old no.3 plane, but I cannot identify it. It has a round red logo of some sort on the lever cap but it is not quite readable. There are no other marks. Anyone got an idea?

I'm no expert but it has some traits of OHIO TOOLS hand planes. The lateral adjust lever has a 90 degree twist and the top of the blade has very little taper. I wonder if Ohio Tools made unbranded planes for local hardware stores the way Stanley did so the store could put their own logo on them.

I don't think Stanley ever made a #3 size with a screw in the front foot of the tote.
It's not a Stanley, for certain. Or a Sargent. There were lots of other manufacturers, and I'm not sure which.
Buy some Evaporust, take the plane apart, completely, and clean it up. There may be other markings. But if you want to use it you'll have to clean it up anyway.
Thank you all for the support! The metal parts are actually having a bath in Evaporust right now, I will investigate some more. :)
