GRIZZLY PRICE INCREASE G0500 JOINTER
Hello all!
Time is running out to buy the Grizzly 8″ jointer for $795.00!
I just received a January issue of a magazine that had a Grizzly ad showing the jointer priced at $875.00.
I checked with Grizzly and they are still honoring the 2004 price through December 31, 2004, but on January 1, 2005 the price will be $875.00
If you are considering purchasing this machine do it before the end of the year.
Merry Christmas

This applies to the vast majority of machines made of iron and steel. Word's been out for awhile that the manufacturers were going to adjust their prices at the end of the year to make up for the high (muchly increased) cost of materials

WOW! Thanks for the info. I'm glad I picked up my 16" Sidney jointer for $400 instead of the 8" Griz.

Thanks for the tip. This catalog you got does it list the Horizontal boring machine that is 275? I called grizzly after seing your poste and they would only confirm that all macinery was going up significantly due to steel prices. She would not confirm the amount. I did not want to order till I paid for xmas, but may have to bite the old bullet so to speak. Thanks.
I don't have a catalog. I received the January issue of Popular Woodworking and Woodwork magazine. Both magazines have Grizzly ads on the inside cover. Unfortunately, neither ad has the borer you are interested in listed.
Hmmm, I was thinking of making a run up to Bellingham in February and picking up a G0543. This may be enough of a push to do it next week!
I get my once a year bonus in Feb., but hey, this is what plastic's for!
You know I was thinking the same thing! When I spoke with CS on Monday, they said I could order all the way through the 31st and still get current pricing. If I order then, It will be Feb before I have to pay for my boring machine. Slipping it in the garage with no no one noticing will be interesting!
RE: Price increases due to the rising cost of steel/cast ironJust to give you some idea of what is happening out there, I had to pay $58 for a box of nails (2000) the other day for my framing nailer, that were previously priced at $49.You can imagine how that kind of increase will translate into big machines!!
Nikkiwood,The other factor in the price rises for you guys is the US Dollar - it's fallen in relative terms over the last year or so, so the importers (who sell in USD) are not getting as much local currency for the USD they receive as payment. This is a problem for them as they have to meet their operating costs in their local currency, which, in turn, means a reduction in their margin and a rise in price when the contract's renegotiated.Cheers, eddie
Eddie -- yep, you're right. I see it especially with the European tools.
