I have an opportunity to buy a Grizzly Lathe model G0632 for $200. It is 4 years old and the owner stated that he used it very little. I see no rust on it and it looks very clean. Motor runs smooth but I’ve not put any wood in it. Just turned it on. Any reason not to buy this at $200? I’ve never owned a lathe and would like to get a Jet but can’t see waiting to save up another $1,200 when I can start on this one and them upgrade at some point.
Thanks for any guidance.

A quick look on the Grizzly pages says this looks like a very good deal on a machine selling new for $1295, with 16" swing and upto 42" between centers. Grizzly had already been improving their quality control 4 years ago so it should be decent.
Paul,
Just paid $ 1,400.00 for the same lathe from Grizzly. It was delivered 10 days ago. It is a great lathe.
$ 200.00?
Snap it up while you are singing repetitively: "feet don't fail me now!!!!"

I would have bought it also. Think of it this way, that it is a learning tool. You can always update your equipment at a later date. Or you might find out that you really don't care about the lathe or have lost interest and now you don't have a small fortune invested in equipment.
