I received an 8 page questionnaire from Harvey Research, ostensibly for FWW, asking for detailed information on my woodworking activities AND a pretty comprehensive list of my tools.
Has anyone else received it, and is it legit?

I got the same thing, and I was a little suspicious; having been burned by a computer virus more than once, I hit the delete button.

I have not received the survey, but I would be very leery of publishing a wish list for thieves. Perhaps Taunton can give some indication as to the legitimacy of the e-mail.
Way to go, guys. Makin' Missy's job harder than it has to be.
You aughta be ashamed.

I spent a fortune on deodorant until I finally realized that people didn't like me anyway.
Jack,
Hello there. My name is Missy Robinson and I am the marketing manager for Fine Woodworking. I wanted to let you know that the 8 page questionnaire you received by mail from Harvey Research is in fact legitimate. Every three years we contract an independent research firm to conduct a survey with a number of randomly selected readers. This survey helps us learn more about our readers and their woodworking needs.
This year we will also conduct an online survey of randomly selected FineWoodworking.com subscribers as well. This e-mail survey will not go out until Thursday next week.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly at [email protected]. Thank you for taking the time to compete the survey. We appreciate your help.

Thanks for clarifying the issue. Based on the other responses it seems I.m not the only one who has concerns about sending out a list of shop equipment without knowing that the survey is for real.
What I received was an email that looked like those you get when someone replies to a posting you made on Knots, yet the hyperlink looked suspicious, so I deleted it. It was not a mailed questionnaire. I obviously did not read Jack's posting carefully enough before commenting. I'm sorry for the mistake.

Beware "tauton" not "taunton".
