I have some cabinets in my bathroom that have a “frosted” finish and are made of maple. I’m planning to build a matching cabinet in that bathroom but I’m not sure how to re-create that “frosted” appearance or even where to begin experimenting.
Can anyone put me on the right track?
Thanks.

If by frosted, you mean pickeled, then I would suggest a starting coat of BLO, into which you add about a tablesppon of pigmented white oil based paint. Apply, rub off, let dry. Finish as usual. The small amount of white in the first coat freezes the lightness of the wood.
