I just assembled the 4 cases of my built in that’s going downstairs in the basement. The 2 outer cases are 12″ deep, the 2 center ones are 16″ deep with a 2 door cabinet on the bottom of each of the center units. Does it make a difference if I put the face frames on individually (in the garage) or should I install the cases downstairs and build the face frames once the units are installed? I’ve flopped several times on this so I thought I’d take a poll.
Details. Top rail 4″, bottom rail 6″, stiles. 3″ between cabinets with 4″ stiles centered. simple frame and panel doors. Thanks for the opinions.
saftey tip o’ the day – keep your three good fingers away from the saw blade and always wear a safety monocle over your one good eye.

Since most walls are not plumb. The best way is to install the case first. Level and plumb it. Then install the face frame.
This is how most finish carpenters would do it.
Good Luck.
