When considering $500 to $600 machines, all else equal, is a drill press with a table that tilts 90 degrees left and right, rather than just 45 degrees, and which also has a forward tilt feature 0 to 45 degrees worth paying, say, $90 more for in comparison to a machine that has just the standard 45 degree tilt left and right?

Only one man's opinion, but having a table that tilts 90 can be really useful for drilling into end-grain, as shown in this video. The forward tilt might give you a bit more flexibility when trying to clamp a piece to the table in an odd orientation.

Matt,
Thanks. I have decided to go for the drill press that tilts 90 degrees side to side and 45 degrees forward. Why? Because I'm not fond of building jigs, and this table with its various tilt features may cut down on that.
I must admit, though, that my aversion to jig making (not total; I have built several) is something I fault myself for. I'm not ideologically in tune with paying big bucks for something I could do myself if I weren't so lazy; yet, here I find myself doing it.
In my own defence, I'm getting it more for the larger table and the 3/4 horse (rather than 1/2 h.p.) motor, than for the forward tilt feature. (Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it :-) )
Regards,
Fabe
