Hi all. I am not sure if this is the best place for this question, but here goes. I will be installing an antique heart pine floor in a major remodel, and the particular grade I chose contains numerous nail holes and such. (I wanted a cabin type feel). The question is with a variety of holes/defects, I am concerned that using a poly type finish will puddle in the holes and I wiil end up with small whitish pools throught the floor. Any thought for a durable finish that will be transparent as possible within the defects? Any help is appreciated. Joel

Have you considered an epoxy finish? There are some paint-on products on the market that should result in a clear, flat surface.

I just do not think this is going to be a problem with what should be a drop dead gorgeous floor. If you are going to "pad" it on, I see no reason it will "pool". Please choose a finish that is natural--at least a varnish--that won't look llike you have applied a layer of plastic. This flooring has already withstood the rigors of time.
