I saw an advertisement (I don’t remember where) for a wall mounted rack that allowed one to keep boards perfectly straight and flat when in the process of gluing a table top, etc. I am wondering:
1) Has anyone used this product and how do you like it?
2) Where can I source this product?
Thank you,
Joseph

Plano glue racks. Had a rig in my previous shop. Miss it terribly. These are a staple in commercial shops, but worth every penny. There are several manufacturers.
Try visiting Custom Woodworking Business on the web, or iswonline.com
Thank you. I will check it out.
Could you please be more specific within the web site suggested? I have been searching for some time and cannot find any reference to the plano glue rack or any glue racks at all. Thank you for taking the time.
Best regards,
Joseph

I've been using a low tech version for years that does the same thing with wooden cauls and my regular bar and quick clamps.
You can make a very serviceable facsimile of the plano press. I made mine from 2x3's. They are bored 2" on center thru the 1 1/2" edge. Bore with a drill press for accuracy. You need a pair of 2x3's for each 12" of boards to glue up. Example, 6'-0" boards I have a pair 4" from each edge and space out the rest about a foot apart. You still need pipe or bar clamps. My press keeps the boards even across the face. I use 5/16" x10"hex head bolts with tee nuts in the back piece of 2x3.My 2x3's are five feet long, this gives me up to four and a half feet of width. I made seven sets of them and can glue up boards at least 10'-0" long if neccessary. I put hanging strips on the back pieces ( french cleats some call them ) and hang them off a lumber rack. I varnished all four sides and waxed them so glue does not stick. This has worked very well for me. No pics yet, haven't decided what digital camera to get.
