What would be the best way to flash the outer fastening flange on the exterior of the door?

This is more of a Breaktime question....
Assuming the flange isn't very thick (I would guess not), you can flash it pretty much the same way you would a vinyl window: Before installing the door, apply adhesive flashing around the sides and top that overlaps the outer wall and the opening. After installing the door, follow up with three pieces of adhesive flashing over the flange and wall, one down each side followed by one across the top. Overlap all of this with the wall's water barrier (e.g., felt) and apply the siding.
It's not hard, but there are some fine points that are difficult to describe without pictures, so I strongly recommend you find a book or online resource that describes how to do this, with illustrations.
