If you are being sincere, allow me to cut to the chase:
The switch to the new platform is scheduled for 11/30, so keep your fingers crossed that everything will once again be grand here at Knots come the beginning of next week.
new platform?<!----><!----><!---->
Here is the deal and yes I'm quite sincere... I'm a professional software developer and have been for 15+ years now. I have been developing intra-net applications for about 7+ years now. The rabbit hole goes rather deep with me.<!----><!---->
Obviously somebody did not "get it" when they sliced up the domains.<!----><!---->
I like the content here. I generally like the overly accurate knot heads as well... I don't really like the site or how it functions right now. I had to log on 2 or 3 times while navigating to a pdf. It’s really annoying. and what's worse it happens on fine homebuilding as well.<!----><!---->
I'll cross my fingers. Because I do think taunton has some great content. I'm desperately rooting for them on this one!<!----><!---->

FWW doesn't own the current software, nor do they maintain it. FWW is in the process of migrating to a different system, that they will own. What is the chance that the guys who have lost the contract are being really pro-active in fixing problems, especially those that are merely irritating but that still allow the forum to operate.
At this point, patience is our best alternative.

Technically, they won't/can't own Drupal. But they will have the access and rights to make any changes they like to the code:http://drupal.org/aboutTaunton owns the data/content.-Toby
Thanks, interesting. Of course the point is that the guys who are going away are the guys who would have had to fix what we use now, and they clearly weren't will motivated.
I should point out that I have no special knowledge about the FWW software arrangements, present or future--as is obvious--but can draw inferences about vendor motivations even from the info that has been discussed widely.
Wow, you are a brave man!! Be prepared to get 30 or 40 flaming emails for making that complaint.
You'll find you are thought of as lower than dog doo or as a sissy whiner. Apparently there is a contingent on this board that thinks Taunton can do no wrong and we should just shut up and take what they give us.
Good luck.
Well we have a saying here where I fix bugs. You have 2 choices. You can either fix the problem or kill the users?<!----><!----><!---->
There are times when I would rather take the later; but well I did not have prision on my todo list this year.<!----><!---->
I am a whiner; a good whiner at that! I can complain about most things along with the best of them. Learned it from my wife; She can spot a 1/64” gap in my work at 100 yards.<!----><!---->
Sometimes your the pigion sometimes you’re the statue right?
