For years, I’ve seen a finish that blends linseed oil, mineral spirits and polyurethane.
As a variation (what I have on hand) would a mix of tung oil, citrus solvent and an oil based polyurethane work (1:1:1)? Has anyone tried something like this? The tung oil I have is pure, with no other additives. I’m looking to combine the depth added by an oil finish with some of the protection offered by a poly.

Seems like this is similar to one of the Sam Maloof finishes (although not exact) and given that citrus solvent can be used in place of mineral spirits you would probably be fine. As always, run some test samples to see how it works.
Thanks! Maloof was who I was thinking of but couldn't remember his name.
The tung oil will certainly work. I've used it in this mix numerous times. I have no experience with citrus solvent. But, I know that turpentine also works as the solvent.
True tung oil contains no metal driers. Boiled linseed oil does. I am not sure why one would choose a citrus based solvent. Mineral spirits and Turps are widely available and proven performers. In my 1:1:1 mixes I will sometimes add Japan Drier during the colder months to speed curing. Do you have a boatload of citrus you are trying to use up?
Maybe because citrus solvent works well, has a pleasant odor, and is non-toxic, unlike mineral spirits and turpentine.
Looking to use materials I have on hand, rather than buying more. Good thought on the japan dryer- I might experiment with that on small pieces.
