I am about to start a piece of furniture that will be made of Wenge. I was wondering what type of finish works well or doesnt work well with Wenge and if there were any special tips I should know about. The finish does not have to be super durable as it will not get much wear and tear.
Thank you, Mike

Check into a great finish called OSMO. It is a wonderful green product made from soybean and carnuba wax. Easy to apply. One gallon is $80 but the gallon lasts forever. The greatest part is there is no odor when applying. I did a house with all wenge trim and beams and it looks fantastic........Once you try this stuff you will never go back...
Used alot of Panga-Panga lately.. Sort of/or is Wenge?
I used Rocklers TUNG oil. I thined 50/50 with mineral spirits (as per directions) then rub in with a 3M green pad. They say IN INSTRUCTIONS to sand to 220/280 grit before. I NEVER GO BEYOND 120 grit for any NEW wood surface. I will sand with 600 automotive wet/dry after.
The Panga-Panga I had does not seem to take on any liquid! I think sort of like Maple.
Turned out well for me but then again I am not a big fan of gloss surfaces. I like wood as it turns out with just oil and wax.
