I have a project coming up and the existing fiber glass door is weathered.
Home owner wants it refinished.
Whats the best way to do this? I want to get 2 years before needing to re do. This door gets full sun for the afternoon all year.

Lightly sand the door and wipe down with a tack cloth. Prime the door with a good primer and paint with a semi gloss paint. Light colors are longer lasting.

Is he looking for a clear finish? Does he want it stained? What condition is the finish in now? Is it chipped, peeling or otherwise damaged?
In general, getting two years out of a clear finish is problematic. Typically, clear finishes outdoors require, at least, annual maintenance consisting of a scuff sanding and the application of a couple of fresh coats of finish.
Weather beaten might be the best way to describe it.
They are looking to go back to a light brown wood grain finish.
I will be collecting the door and blocking the opening. So I should have some unrushed control with it indoors.
