I talked to my brother in law today and he has acquired an Emmert patternmakers vise. It has been broken and repaired by brazing. It works fine. He is curious as to its worth. Any comments?

If it had not been repaired maybe $500.00+. With the brazed repair not too much.
Sorry to tell you it's junk. The best thing is to have your b-i-l ship it right to me. ;-)
There is one in a used tool shop near me (Worcester, MA) for $350. It has been there for a couple of weeks. It started at $450-ish.
Worcester? My back yard. Now not that I'm about to purchase said vise, but what is the name and address of this establishment? I"m sure I could find an excuse or two to make a visit.
It's on West Boylston St (Rt 12) A little north of the Worcester Credit Union (same strip as the Subway). It is open wed-sat 1-5 pm. Tiny store, stock turns over pretty quick.
