For all you Stanley plane collectors/users I found this out by accident. Type stanley planes into search and you’ll get 80 or so hits. Type in stanley plane (no s on planes) and you’ll get hundreds of hits. Happy overspending to all….

Hey, thanks...

In my experience it's a good idea to include both the singular and plural in your searches. In this case, few sellers are selling more than one plane per auction. In other cases, a seller might have multiple widgets in one listing but never use the plural widgets anywhere in the listing.
Another search trick to keep in mind is common or plausible misspellings. Try searching for Stanly plane or planes and see what you get. I used to buy Starrett tools on eBay and I would search for Starrett, Starret, Starett, Sterrett, Sterret, and Sterett. The amazing thing to me is that people will misspell names even when they have the item or a picture of it sitting right there in front of them.
Type in stanley plane* and you'll get 1650 hits. The * is a wildcard - says to search for any word starting with plane.

once I mistyped stanley as stanely and found a few planes, one being a bedrock. It went cheaper then the normal bedrocks on ebay. I bid because you can never have enough no5 bedrocks at a cheaper price. But alas, I didnt win.
Suprisingly a few planes always end up this way. Never hurts to check because on person's spelling might be a treasure.....
Yes Spelling makes a real diffrence, I found a bandsaw that way I nearley bought. Was listed as just a Laguna 18" He never got a bid on it and was priced pretty good, but was just to far for me to go pick up. Had a friend buy (or steal) a stereo Receiver same thing wrong spelling!
Happpy Biddding!

You should check out some of the college courses on internet searching. You can take a semester course on search engines alone so one can imagine the levels of sophistication.
