I am using some of the dust right connections and the expandable hose. It is pretty slick and easy to use. I use it with my Jet 1.5 Can unit. It is much easier to move the hose from tool-to-tool.
I do not have one but I have something similar. A Jet thing? Not sure...
I would say for $6.00 just get one. It is only a connector for other 'accessories' that you may or not need. Getting the dust to travel to that port is the hard part!
I have a Rockler about 35 miles from me? I have been known to walk in with something I have, like a hunk of hose or 'fitting' to see if it fits my needs.
If you want to share a connection they are great. I've used someting very similar for a long time from woodcraft called a quick disconnect. It's got a slight funnel typ shape and is easy to pop on and off standard 4" connections. Its cheaper than running individual runs for sure.
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
