Gary, my 26″dual drum sander limits minimum stock thickness to 1/4″. Can I decrease this minimum down to say 1/16″ by using a sled underneath the thinner stock, the way you can on a planer ? The conveyor belt is thick rubber, ( the reason for the 1/4″ minimum).
Thanks for your advice,
Dave

Hey Dave,
I think a table insert would work if it doesn't get sucked in by the feed rollers. I don't know what kind of machine you have so I don't know if that's possible. The other option would be to send your thin stock through the sander mounted to a flat insert. Maybe with an end stop to hold the work in place, maybe with double stick tape [although that's a hassle]. Good luck.
