has anybody in the knots kingdom, used or know of anyone who has that sand flee drum sander? it is $$pricey(they even charge for the fence), but it seems like a great idea. just curious.

Yes, it's a bit pricey.
I use one to smooth sand my frames and boxes.
Seems to work great.
Much better them my belt sander (which removes too much in one pass.)
I haven't found a need for the fence.
Bad thing is that a frame or box corner can tear the paper very easy. Mostly operator error on my part.

Never used one but have used all sorts of industrial sanders for 35 years. Looks like a good way to thin the wallets of novices. It's not a thickness sander. I can't think of any application that I couldn't use one of the standard sanders to do the job with. What's wrong with a random orbit snader and a regular belt sander. I would recommend you get one that takes a sanding shoe or frame for doing table tops. Kind of like training wheels that won't let the sander dig in.
Beleive it or not, there's a ton of useless gadgets out there for the novice to waste money on.
Explain why you think it's a great idea please. I just can't see the point in one. I could see using it for some things but for 35 years I never had an application that couldn't be done with several other methods. I have run some very unusual sanders that they don't make any more but they were specialiazed for certain applications.
IMHO, You would be far better off to get a full fledged adjustable thickness drum sander, like a Performax or Jet. The price point is not going to be that much more for a far superior machine.
Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

I looked at it and decided what would be more useful to me is a stand alone open type large belt sander --- you know, the kind what usually has a disk sander on one end of it..
One thing that concerned me on the SandFlee is the horsepower is really low. I wondered if it would bog.
Good luck whatever you do.
