the accuride full extensions i bought have adjusters that you bend out, but when I put screws in it just sucks up to the carcass. I ended up mounting them with shims, but I would like to know how to use the bend out adjusters

Are you speaking of the right angle tab on the front end of the member attached to the drawer? If so, that isn't an "adjuster". What are you trying to adjust???The only adjustments on the guides is up and down...The drawer fronts may or may not have adjustability.
No there are sideways U shaped cutouts along the glide. You bend them out to adjust them, but I dont know how to lock them where you bend them to, because when you put a screw in the glide just sucks back to the carcass
I don't think those are adjusters. I went to the Accuride web site http://www.accuride.com and looked at some data sheets, and they don't say anything about using those cutouts for lateral adjustment. It looks like shimming is the right way to go if the drawer space is too wide.
I think they could be made to work as adjusters on lightly loaded drawers. Under heavy load, I think the glide would get tilted sideways and very possibly bind. To use them as adjusters, I think you would have to make a shallow S bend at the base of the tongue to make the tongue parallel with the slide. If you're just pushing the tongue out and not making it parallel, then I'd expect just the behavior you described, especially if you're using the screw hole closest to the base of the tongue.
Here's a tech support request page at Accuride. I have no idea if they actually answer the requests. Too many companies don't.

I've never seen lateral adjusters on Accuride slides. If need be, use washers between the slide and the carcass.
I have one sitting on the desk as I type, and the "tabs" are not adjusters.Think they are cut out like that so if the substrate it is mounted on is un even it will not bend the main channel, which would make it not work.If drawers are to small, shim them up, but take care not to bend the channel or they will not run smoothly... If to big break out the belt sander.
