This is a two part question.
1. Are there any good reference texts that suggest drawer design?
While I’m happy to get your suggestions I like to find information so I can have a ready reference when confronted with this kind of question again.
The project is 2 full extension drawers that will hold a maximum of 60 pounds each in the back of my van.
Each drawer is 23 inches across, 34 inches deep, and can be 8 inches tall.
2. Any suggestions on the thickness of the drawer front, back, sides, and bottom?
I don’t care if it is plywood or hardwood, but I want to make sure the thickness of the wood is adequate, and that the bottom of the drawer is thick enough too. I’m wondering is 5/8 is too thin, and if I should use 3/4 or thicker?
Do you think a mullion will be needed for the bottom of the drawer as additional support?
Thanks!
Michael

I would probably use 3/4" for the whole box , slot and glue the bottoms in .
