I am trying to make the Dowel Maker shown on page 67 of Fine Woodworking issue no. 8. It is in the article titled “Wooden Clamps” by Richard Showalter. The diagram is not clear as to where exactly to locate the blade other than it lies at a 75 deg. angle to the vertical. And it doesn’t give the skew angle for the blade. Does anyone have any information to better define the location and angle of the skew?

The skew on the blade appears to be equal to the depth of the thread, so it's pretty subtle.
