I’ve been considering a Leigh dovetail jig to speed along some of my projects. But I’m wondering what size? The super jigs come in 12, 18, and 24 inch models… Will I regret buy an 18″ model?

I think you might regret not buying the 24" even if you don't use it for a while. I have the 24" and have not needed the entire length but I have used 20" of it. It's a terrific jig and you won't have any regrets about the Leigh jig itself, just be sure you're comfortable with the size you finally settle on. By the way, I hand cut almost as many dovetails as I do on the Leigh jig. I'm getting better at it.
Good luck with your purchase, Jim
I also have the Leigh D4R, 24" jig and though I don't always use all of the length, it is very handy sometimes. You can always make smaller stuff on a longer jig but making longer stuff on a shorter jig can require something just this side of magic. Besides, it appears that when youu have the longer capacity, it lets your creative mind think in bigger terms, larger box projects or other things you may not have considered dovetail-worthy.
I have a full review of my D4R at the lin below with photos and video if more on its features would help.

Get the 24" you'll regret it the first 14" you need to do!

Get a woodrat.
It will let you do everything the Leigh jig does, plus a lot of things it doesn't, for just a little more money.
But it lets you do everything the Leigh dovetail jig, and the Leigh FMT jig do, and quite a bit more, for less money than the two combined.
Kellar jig, no limit on width.
I have the Porter Cable 24" Omni-jig and Love it.
Since the WoodRat was suggested and if that's something you'd consider, I would also consider the Router Boss. Same advantages for dovetails as the Rat as compared to other router-based dovetailing "jigs", easier to set up accurately, customer support is available in the US.
