I’m building a couple hutches with divided lite doors on the top sections. I see the Freud set the Lonnie Bird CMT set and the Summerfeld bit set. How am I going to decide which bit set to order? Where do I look for the instructions? And which set would you recommend? It would get expensive to order all three and spend the time on learning each set up. Thanks for any input.

Grainwagon,
Email me through my profile and I will happily email you back with a copy of a magazine article that details the construction of divided lite doors using the Freud bits. That should give you an idea of how the process works so you can decide if it seems right for you.

Good to see you posting Charles!
Has the Bosch deal had any ramifications for you? I hope not, your insight and expertise with that product line would be sorely missed around here.

Thank you for the kind words. There's been no changes as a result of the buyout so far and really none expected for the near future as far as I know.

Check the CMT set carefully before you take the plunge - I believe it utilizes a long tenon which requires a mortise to be cut into the frame - either by hand or by mortising machine.

I have the sommerfiled set and instr dvd. I bought it at a ww show in stl. I like the fact that once you set the height for the first bit it is set for the other one. One little note. I had a hiccup with my set. I wanted 1" thick doors for mine and did not notice that the bit was for "..up to 7/8 thick stock". I got around it but it did bite me.
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
