Isolating? Perhaps you mean oscillating??
LOL damn spell check... I need not to be up so late and typing thanks
Gave me something to chuckle over, thanks!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Most of the SS do a decent job. Actually, the Riggid, a brand I'm not overly fond of, scored high for their SS. As to combination machines, you move into an entirely different price range if you want the SS to oscillate.
I have the Ridgid OSS and love it. I almost always use the belt sanding attachment on it, but can swap over to a spindle in a minute or less.
It's one of those tools that you get and immediately wonder how long they've been legal and why didn't someone tell you about it sooner. - lol
"It's one of those tools that you get and immediately wonder how long they've been legal and why didn't someone tell you about it sooner. " No kidding. I bought an old Craftsman at an estate auction -- plastic body, laminate table, not your upper-class sander LOL, but it makes a huge difference in some projects!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Yeah, I used to use those drum sanders mounted in a drill press chuck. They were OK, but left lots of parallel lines that had to be hand sanded. The OSS leaves the surface finish-ready (almost). - lol
