Since I am looking at the DW735 but do not want to be replacing blades all the time, I am wondering if anyone has replaced the Dewault blades with something else? Also could you give me some feedback of how well the replacement wore in relation to the Dewault blades?
For the person who did the review on the DW735 (doneby), how did the Infinity tool replacement blades, how did they wear? Also are they able to be re-sharpened?
Thanks
Bruce

I cannot answer your question but ...
I made a fixture for honing the 735 blades (a slot cut into a piece of plywood). I use a diamond hone. If I pay attention, I seldom cut myself, and I sharpen all 6 edges on the 3 blades.
Dont throw away all those blades. For years I have sharpened the thin Delta blades of my old portable planer using a wooden clamping jig that has a maple "rubbing block" that positions a DMT diamond stone at the right angle, about 40 degrees. I now use an expensive Makita flat waterstone motorized sharpener, it does fine with even small baldes (but has a pretty steep learning curve if your not good with machines). Also use a dial caliper to check that the blades stay the same overall width, this will allow them to fit a planer that has fixed blade mounts. Keeping an extra set of blades helps, in case you dont have sharpening in your schedule that day.
