What does that mean?
I borrowed the jointer from a friend a few years ago. it looks nice in the catalogs but its not all that its supposed to be. It is all sheet metal and the tables are flimsy. Do yourself a big favor and save a few more ducats and buy a floorstanding model.
Steve
I have one. It works OK. I got it because I needed to conserve space. It is limited in the size of what you can run throguh it, but I made some outfeed /infeed extensions and its OK. If space is not an object, look for a used floor model where you can adjust both tables.
A good jointer is one of the most important machines in anyone's shop, unless, of course, you are a master with a hand plane.
I'd recommend saving your sheckels and buy the full size 6" Delta jointer which is a good basic machine for $600. You'll kick yourself later for spending the $$ on an inferior, small machine
Dave
I've used one for three years. It works well.
if space is a problem, find a vintage No 7 or 8 Plane. Bailey or stanley pre WW2.
when you think jointer think cast iron, Either with a motor or elbow power. Dont think sheet metal or stamped
I had one for about 5 years. It did all I needed it to do. It was a sceamer definately came in handy during the urban warfare I had with my neighbors. But I used it quite a bit. Then when I up graded to a Jet 1 hp 6 " it was like the lights shined down from heaven and i heard a angelic choir. If space is a concern by all means get it (find a good used one theyre plenty out there) but If it is not a concern get a floor model. Dont do like I do buy a cheaper model then upgrade later ya end up losing money in the long run. ive done it twice so far. With the jointer and a HVLP. I hope thats it..
