Greetings,
I would like to create a coffee table quality game board as a gift. I would like to laminate a copy (I have copy rights for one) of a game board to my project’s surface and then apply a finish over the top of it to make it durable. Any recommendations?
Kind Regards,
JIM

jim,
could it be under glass?

Eef,I am considering that. However, I am also considering applying some kind of liquid finish over the playing surface. The playing surface is going to be a removable lid so that the playing pieces can be stored inside. If I use glass, I am concerned about weight and don't really want to have a lip from a frame that would hold the glass in, but the glass may be the best way to go.Thank you,JIM
Famowood "Glaze Coat". I don't know about your area, but every hardware store and craft shop where I am has it.
Excellent. Thank you. This looks like just what I need. I will purchase some and test it.Kind Regards,JIM
Go to a craft store and get some decoupage finish. You may want to practice with a piece of comparable "paper" or what you have. Decoupage is usually pretty thin coats and lots of them. You might want to consider a paint roller for application of a large area.
GretchenANd to make sure whatever it is doesn't "lift" the ink, etc.
