I’m hollowing out an ambrosia maple bowl and am encountering some pretty coarse end grain. Rather than “sand like crazy” or turn to 36 grit, I was wondering if moistening the end grain together with a freshly honed scraper/gouge is the preferred method ?
Thanks,
Rich

Yes damp the wood and shear scrape with a VERY light touch and a fast speed.Try just the light touch and a well below centre cutting edge angle first though
