D handle versus Barrel for jig saws
What is the difference or preference for the barrel style jig saw or the D handle type. Anybody know? I have both and the D handle seems to be better for intricate cuts. But, hey I could be wrong.

I have a Bosch barrel-handle jigsaw, and I find it far easier to use than conventional D-handled jigsaws.
John,
I think it is strictly a matter of personal preference. I have both, and I have a slight preference for the barrel grip when I am doing something that requires intricate cutting. For me, it seems a little easier to manuever. But the next poster will probably say the opposite is true -- and he/she would be right too.
BTW, thanks for all you info on the Festool stuff.
I have a PC top handle, there has been a Bosch barrel on the job. I switched back and forth the other day. I was notching window sills and scribing in wide baseboard. For me, the top handle gives me greater control right over the reciprocating blade. When I cut a little too tight for the blade in the radius, the saw doesn't take control and bounce. I also like the speed control right at my thumb instead of out back on the end.
Like someone else said, it's a personal preference but I would not trade the PC for the Bosch. I wouldn't trade the PC blades for the Bosch either. Side by side the Bosch was a distant second place, I expected better.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
That was the best explanation yet.
I have the Bosch D handle and it works fine. The only time I wish I had a barrel handle is when using the saw upside down with a coping foot. If you would like to use the saw to cope, get the barrel model. You get out of life what you put into it......minus taxes.
