I am interested in making a small box with a curved (coopered) lid. Can someone give me some suggestions? Or suggest a site where I may find information. I’ve looked through FWs site and could not find anything, but I may not have hit the right key words.

who,
recently, there has been a discussion about this. when i need to do a curved lid i first decide how many sections i want. the more one puts into the mix, the closer to domed, or round the lid will be. if i want four sections in the radius, or half circle, that will be the lid, then i need to divide 360 by 8 which is 45. then divide 45 by 2 for each angle cut, which is 22 1/2. tilt the table saw blade to 22 1/2 degrees and rip this onto each edge of the four lid sections.
hope this is clear.

I don't understand where the 8 came from.
For easy discussion: if I wanted a 90 degree arc in the lid, with 5 pieces, there would be 10 cuts, amd each angle being 9 degrees.
One thing I forgot to ask. Would one use tape (masking?) to hold the lid while it is drying?
Thanks for your reply
who,
the eight is how many times 360 degrees is split up. if you want five sections to the half circle, that is your lid, you'll divide 360 by 10. then divide 36 by 2 and 18 degrees will be what you tilt the saw blade to for ripping both edges of your parts/sections.
by the way, derek's step-by-step stuff is really good...

who,
also, masking tape will hold things in place while one futses about. i prefer to make a tight tourniquet using nylon twine, or the like. you will need a back-up board that is equal in width and length to the bottom of the lid against which you tighten the lid in it's tourniquet.

This will provide a step-by-step pictorial.

Thank you.
I'll give it a try this weekend.
