I hauled a pickup load of Broadleaf Maple, Acer macrophyllum, home from mom’s yesterday.
Got the first logs pushed through my bandsaw, and it’s all HEAVILY spalted.
I’m a rich man.
Now I need to figure out what I want to build out of it. But I have plenty of time. There’s at least two more pickup loads out there, in the same pile.

No expert....
No expert on this or many other subjects.
I do recall that spalted equals mold of some type. Does spalled wood require special drying procedures to kill the living mold? I would think so. But what do I know. I would think that the mold will just keep growing unless you 'kill' it.
My reply is much more of a question that a response on what to do.
cool
That's great.
But, please don't make a pancake spatula out of this wood. It would be a shame to hear of you being arrested for a-spalt and batter-y. ;-)
Oh, gawd
Yes, that's exactly what we need, is some bad puns.
If that's what we're going to do, I'm off to the drugstore for a chocolate spalt.
