Could I convert a Dewalt heavy duty cut out tool into a router?
Hello,
I have been doing alot of research on converting a cut out tool (rotary tool) into a router. When i first thought about this idea I read a couple forum conversations and it seems noone recommends to use a rotary tool as a router. I was curious if anyone personally has tried this? I have a Dewalt DW660 heavy duty cut out tool, which i believe should be capable of converting to a router. I have 1/8 and 1/4in collets. I planned on making my own custom router base to fit it. I dont plan to be routing on a daily basis, just here and there on misc. projects. Would this even be worth doing? or should i just focus on buying an actual router? Any kind of feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Sure it's possible - I have a dremel that sells a router base attachment as an option for very small detail work but for typical router bits the Dewalt cut out tool won't be strong enough.
