Hey guys I’m in a stoop or just stupid but I can’t seem to find a set of plans for a copula you know the top of a gazebo. My gazebo is 6 sided and the opening at the top has 6 sides at 28″ in length that’s the outside . I want to separtate the exact same polygon with spindles 10″ and believe I should strengthen it by puting a riser between the sections at each joint. I have been trying to draw on sketch up but i don’t care what anyone says you need the bought version as I have an auto cad training in 3d and I can’t seem to get this program to do what I want. As you can see Iam thoroughly messed up Help!!!

Does one copulate in a copula?
Do a web search on "cupola" and you will find dozens of plans.

TT,
I thought maybe a copula was law enforcement for Transylvanian vampires.
Ahh-hahahaha, the children of the night, what lovely music they make, in their gazebos. Must enforce the noise ordinance, by biting your neck, ah-ha-ha-ha

I've heard that there's going to be a movie - Francis Ford Copula will be directing....

Good one!
Step away from the computer! Take a piece of plywood and draw it out full size. A circle is 360°, what else do you need to know?
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Just to make sure you got the drift. The word is cupola - not copula.
Your post has enough detailed info to build this -- what for ya need plans? IME, it's just as easy to cut a piece as to draw it, once you know the details.

You don't need the "bought version" of SketchUp to draw what you want. The free version will do anything the pro version will do as far as drawing goes.
If you want a hand drawing it out, all you have to do is ask.

Hi Dave the version I have doesn't seem to have the tools they talk about in some of the tutorials. I know what I want in the cupola I have the dimensions and I guess what I was looking for was an easy way out by hoping someone already had a set of plans. And , YES I would like some help from time to time. This program is not like Auto Cad and vise versa. I have to keep using auto cad though or I will totally lose some of my skills.
Thanks again will keep in touch. It's a hexagon shape 28" I will send a drawing to you when finished.
I sent you an e-mail. I'll try not to hijack the thread.
"I’m going to install a bell inside it. Just a little gets back for the neighbors who shoot off fireworks every night for two weeks before the 4th of July."
They'll just blow it up.

I think a rotating spot light and a fog horn might be better.

Thanks for your input it was of great help
On a side note-
Every time a customer mentions their cupula it's because
it's leaking.
Make sure you flash it right.
