I am in the process of building an infill block plane with dovetailed sides. I have got the basics down but I am looking for someone with a little experience building this style plane to help guide me thru the process. Helpful tips and incite are needed.
My inspiration to build my own plane came from seeing Roy Underhill at Highland Hardware this past spring. Roy is an inspiring woodworker however the inspiration came from one of the students in his class. He brought his collection of infill planes, saws and shaves that he had made. Incredible work, unfortunately Roy Underhill was the only one to receive one of these planes as a gift.
Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,
I would be happy to help you but I will need a lot more information. I am not sure if this is the best place to do it - maybe a modorator can let me know if this is appropriate. You can send me a note off line if you want. You can reach me at [email protected]. You can also pick up the current issue of Furniture and Cabinetmaking (I hope it is ok that I mentioned that) as David Charlesworth is building a infill smoother from a kit by The Shepherd Tool company. It has some information as well.
Cheers, Konrad
Check out Traditional Tools forum also. Lots of fellows there also building infills - although none with the expertise of Konrad. (Oops! Guess David Charlesworth hangs out there too, so I'll have to make that two experts.)
