Many, many thanks to all those who have decided that they know better than us, and are therefore qualified to dictate what all of us should and should not hear, feel, think, say, and do.
We should not have opinions, positive or negative, about anyone else’s views or right to express them. We should not disagree. We should all post telling each other how great that Home Depot pine potato bin they built looked.
We should stand by and watch people have crimes commited against them and “not get involved” So what if that woman was assaulted. She should work that out with the guy that did it. No matter that she has a DNA sample…..
Have a great day,
Lee

I guess we're all supposed to emulate the ostritch. Or the three monkeys.
It's as if we're losing a good, informative book half way through, and then find it's out of print.
mapleman,
Sorry, I'm a little slow on the up-take. Are you referring to specific thread? Perhaps the one that has recently been shut down. Or something else?
Mike
Mike, there was a thread now closed that concerned commercial relationships between certain parties. Unhappiness was being expressed by the parties, and lots of curiosity by everyone else. I support closure of the thread. Email and forums are just too likely to convey false impressions, and the issues are the business of the parties and not of the rest of us.

<<there was a thread now closed that concerned commercial relationships between certain parties>>Joe,Thanks. I assumed that was the case. It was the DNA reference in the original post that threw me off -- too much information. Mike
Mapleman I guess we were lucky in our little corner of the world that after all the death and suffering over many years , somebody decided that the only way to a satisfactory soluation was through discussion and we all live happy ever after. Regds. Boysie Slan Leat.
Lee,
Did you find it ironic that the one person asking for the closing of that thread feigns neutrality but has more article content on the web site involved than any other individual? I guess I can understand this individual's desire to protect his vanity publishing venue.
We too have content on the front page of that site. It was placed there without our knowledge or permission. While it certainly doesn't hurt us to be featured there, we want no association with that business. We've e-mailed the owner of the site insisting our information be removed and requested no further mention of our business or products. We are in the process of contacting friends and acquaintances who participate in that site asking that the reconsider their participation. We are doing a couple other things as well.
I feel the person harmed in this case deserves the support of the Knots community. I personally consider this individual a valuable contributor here.

Isn't it amazing. The one guy who could have benefited from the support that thread was creating is hurt by its being shut down, and the guy who stands to gain the most by censorship and elimination of that thread basically got his way.
I've been complaining about this for years here now, and it seems to frequently fall on deaf ears.
I guess that if I'm sick and tired of all the stupid questions about which which table saw to get, alls I need to do is make a request to shut it down, and WAM BAM THANK YOU MAM, it's gone.

I counted 4 separate people who stated in *The Thread Which Must Not Be Named* who thought the conversation was inappropriate. That was before *The Person Who Will Not Be Named* suggested the thread be closed. Still, though I wearied of reading through the thread, there was at least one more person writing the discussion between Philip and Wiktor shouldn't be aired on Knots.
I don't think TPWWNBN had anything to protect. I also think that regardless of his content on Wiktor's web site, that person had as much right to air his opinion concerning the thread as anyone else.
I respect LW--highly--and still I think the comment concerning TPWWNBN borders on being vain and petty itself.
I suspect because I haven't been notified about being on Wiktor's site (as a vendor no real content contribution I am aware of) I do not fall into the "friends and acquaintances" category. This will surely be the last nail to that coffin. I hope not.
I think life is too short to hold such animosity against anyone. It's unhealthy to oneself.
I do not know who was urging FWW to deal with the thread. I am glad FWW chose to close it and not remove it altogether. Wiktor had opportunity to speak up and chose not to. There was nothing new to be gained in that thread unless he chose to speak up. It's closing matters not to the desired end of those wanting it to continue. If I had to surmise who did the urging, TPWWNBN would not be my first pick. It would be the person who had the most to loose.
There are other web sites which can carry the live, blow by blow if both parties were interested. I doubt it would be a wise thing to do for either party despite how much we, as onlookers, would desire it to be.
Take care, Mikecount me as one who doesn't want it aired publically
Mike, Maybe it's as well to let it go back underground to be sorted by the principles,my concern was that Philip posts to Knots, while Mr. Wiktor seems to have his own web site which seems to be used by other people to sell their wares or comment on the good or bad of other peoples work.
I have noticed that some who did'nt want public debate are prominent names on Mr Wiktors site.I hope that if they have problems as Mr Marcou has with Mr Wiktor and, that they feel they cant use the Knots forum because of their stand,I'm sure tyey can be assured they will treated in the true Knothead manner.
This is interly my own opinon as I await to apoligse or not to Mr wiktor regarding the question I put to him. Regds.Boysie Slan Leat.I'm never always right but i'm always never wrong. Boysie

Wiktor's web site has static content not updated by anyone else but he. People have and do submit articles for Wiktor to post. I do not have content on Wiktor's site (as far as I know) nor will I.
I am not certain he really has a sales presence as his one site which had tools for sale is apparently off-line.
While I do not have an interest in Wiktor nor his site, I do not think this is an appropriate venue for such discussion to take place. Of course, they are free to communicate how and where they deem fit. Just as it is right for Taunton to deem fit appropriateness of such discussions on their site.
Take care, Mike
