It has been over 5 years since FW reviewed combination machines, and the editors don’t have any plans to do so again soon. Last time they recommended the (Austrian)Knapp Combi–and I visited Laguna Tools (the then distributor) to see it. Although I didn’t try it, it was a beauty to look at. As best I can tell it’s no longer available in the US.
Laguna now distributes the Belgian)Robland and a (Chinese) Robland knockoff under their own name.
Does anyone have any information re the Robland machines, a source for Knapp, or recommendations for a good combo machine? I don’t mind paying a premium price for quality goods.

This topic is discussed quite often on Knots. The results of a search for Felder is in the link below.

Life is what happens to you when you're making other plans.
When your ship comes in... make sure you are not at the airport.
Search for the forums on combo machines. There's other combo units such as Rojek, Minimax, Hammer, Felder, Sicar and several more. Knots isn't your best site for this kind of info.

The Robland is a nice machine.
I visited a dealer and considered it but I still found it to large to fit in my shop so I bought a used Valex 4 function.
As I have a table saw I almost never use the universal for sawing and I find the small table a liability, also the Euro fences can be a pain if your not used to that style.
I find the lack of a miter slot a problem as well they're really handy for jigging up but the plus is a sliding table. If it has enough capacity for sheet goods its really handy!
I mostly use the jointer/ planer combo and I do find it a slight pain to go between functions especially if you just want to clean up an edge and go back to thicknesing!
The thing to remember is to look at your needs and plan ahead so that when you plunk down that wad of money you don't get stuck with a machine that inhibits you or your work.
Just my two cents,
Chaim
I live in the UK ad have a Record combination machine made by Lurem a French company
If money and space was not a problem I would choose a top of the range Felder product
Further Robert Ingram a renound British woodworker and former head of Parnham college has a Felder machine
Hope this helps

Chaim--
Thanks for the info. Somehow I missed that there's no mitre slot--I guess they see the sliding table as a replacement.
Cheers,
