Since you can't make the sapele darker to match, you need to go the other way. It's not always the easiest thing but you need to consider bleaching the Honduras.
You can try using basic household bleach like Clorox to start. It is not that strong but is often enough to get the job done.
Wet the wood once to raise the grain and sand it back when dry. Apply the bleach liberally to the surface and let it dry. If it is not light enough yet repeat this process.
When you are done bleaching, neutralize the surface with a wash of white vinegar water (31)
When it is dry you have to judge what it needs in the way of color. I would suggest you brought the color "back up" using a water soluble dye. The powders I use are by W.D. Lockwood. If you have never used them don't be intimidated. They come with good directions and are very easy to use.
Consider getting some of the yellows, like medium yellow, golden amber (maple) etc. These will assist you in getting your "ground color" You can seal these with Sealcoat when dry and then add a glaze if necessary.
You need to make samples! Take your time and experiment. It will be time well spent.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I'm on the road.
