I’ve seen this CMT router, obviously made by DeWalt – a true copy of their 625 model – The only difference I see is the sole, seems a little different in profile !!
I wonder if it will fit my routertable, like the DW625. Somebody ever seen it in real life or maybe tried it ? It’s cheaper than buying the DW625 that’s why I’m interested. Intended use as permanent tablerouter.
Another thing speaking about HP. As far as I remember my physics lessons ! 1 HP equals 746 Watt (voltage X amp) – so a 3 HP router should be at least 2238 watt. Something makers of routers supposedly don’t know ?? Ex.g. DeWalt claims the DW625 to be a 3+HP router, but it is only rated 1850/2000 watts.

The HP rating in small universal motors, such as in routers, are notoriously deceiving; i.e., they are often based on locked-rotor current draw. In this case, all that energy is being turned into heat - not very useful.
IMHO it should be illegal to advertise them as such; "HP" for a motor should be a unit of energy per unit time delivered at the output shaft of the motor.
Yes, the HP ratings on routers are complete nonsense. As I understand it, that's the horsepower it might generate if you spiked the breaker closed and locked the bit in a vise... before the router, breaker panel and wiring all melt into slag, that is.
I was looking at one earlier this week. Felt a little lighter than my Freud; that narrow base makes it real unstable and without a lockable on / off switch or built in fine height adjuster, I reckon my Freud will be staying in my table for a while yet....
I wasn't impressed..

Stay safe....Have fun
This router was a re-badged Elu router, OR, made in Italy (at least, the ones here are).
Perhaps DeWalt are getting theirs done at the same plant
Overall, the CMT router here is not a bad machine. No complaints
Cheers,
eddie
Makes sense since CMT is an Italian manufacturer._________________________________
