I build a mahogany cabinet for a saltwater fish tank a few years back a finished it with a precatalyzed lacquer with a UV-inhibitor in it. After having saltwater dropped but dried immediately it has started to cloud over. Any thoughts on how to “easily” bring back the transparency? Thanks to all in advance.

This is a long shot guess, but you might be able to give it a quick wipe with a rag that is somewhat wet with lacquer thinner. It has to get wet but not soaked. You already know about precautions.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Thanks for the reply, i'd thought of your process but I wasn't sure if it was viable. I'll try it in an inconspicuous spot later in the week.
Blueline ,
This is another possibility , first off you will need to clean the surface of any polish oils or dirt and foreign contaminates . Then a light sanding with maybe 220 really just a scuff for adhesion purposes . Then with the same material you used as a top coat spray a mist coat over the existing finish . If all looks well after the lacquer starts to tack up or dry . shoot a wet coat on . Theoretically the new coat will amalgamate or melt and blend with the old coat . You have little to loose at this stage of the game .
good luck dusty
Did you try buffing it?
