Hello All,
I have the Dewalt 718 sliding miter saw and have gotten less then stellar results cutting hardwood and plywood. The cut is not pefectly square. I have checked for alignment and it is properly set. Therefore, I believe it is more of a blade issue than tool alignment. I have the Dewalt 80t cross cutting blade installed. Could it be wobble in teh blade? What blade would you recommend for a 12″ scms?
Thanks, Erik-

Plywood is tough to cut as it fills up the gullet in front of the teeth and the blade starts to struggle and then wobble. If you lift the blade a little during the cut it will help clear the gullet and cutting can continue. Maybe a few less teeth will help a little.
Freud... no question

We have the same saw in our shop at work and we recently upgraded the blade and there was a definite improvement... keep in mind it is a 12" blade so make your cuts just a little slower.

I use an 80 tooth blade in a slider and a 96 tooth on a CMS. DeWalt factory blades are terrible (the ones with the yellow teeth). Try swapping the blade with something of quality. I use FS Tool or Forrest blades. I put on a Freud Diablo for MDF and the like as it kills blades. DeWalt has also had problems with their tables not being flat on the 718 in particular. If that checks out and the problem still exists swap out the outer blade clamp and the arbor bushing. They go bad easily and often causing the blade to wobble and causing all kinds of accuracy problems. If the saw is new they should replace them free of charge. Buy extras and keep them in the truck/van/shop. They are cheap. I bought 3 sets for my 716 and paid less than $20.

DeWalt has several 80T crosscut blades ranging for crude construction grade to the excellent Series 60 cabinet maker grade. I suspect you have one of the construction grade blades. Switching to a top grade blade should yield better results.
