Hi
I am now the proud owner of a Festo Plunge Saw and the table MFT/3 and was wondering if I should seal the top of this MDF table with say Sanding sealer to prevent / reduce any damage caused by wear and tear.
I have a very limited work area – the courtyard outside and will have to use thius for a workbench as well.

Having moved here and had to leave my workshop behind (filled a 40′ shipping container – now in storage), now starting afresh having got to the UK with Leatherman as my complete workshop!!

MDF is pretty tough it will serve for years without wearing out, but it will absorb dirt and can be damaged by water which might be a problem working outdoors. There is no harm in giving all of the surfaces, top and bottom, a coat or two of thin shellac, but you don't want to build up a hard film on the surface it will make the top too slippery.
